Soon after announcing that phones will not be permitted in Ontario classrooms. Education Minister, Stephen Leece announced yesterday that the Financial Literacy component of the Grade ten math curriculum will be enhanced.
Now, similar to the OSSLT, the curriculum will require that students pass a test on financial literacy in order to graduate highschool. They will need to get at least 70% on this test to pass.
Mehtab Sangha The Founder of the Middle Ground News & Podcast spoke with Premier Ford and Minister Leece about expanding the Financial Literacy curriculum. They spoke of how it is important for students to know this information. Minister Leece asked Mehtab to draw up a document consisting of what he would include in a financial literacy course and how the government can go about making the financial literacy curriculum better for students.

The Middle Ground firmly believes that financial education is important for an individual success. No matter what career an individual chooses they will be making money. However, no one is taught how to spend their money. This is why the Middle ground is also committed to teaching students about financial literacy. Although the Province of Ontario is expanding its Financial literacy component there is still a lot more that students can learn.
The Middle Ground will soon be posting videos and lessons about the basics on Financial Literacy. Stay tuned on more updates on finances and education with The Middle Ground News.
